July 18 - 24 High Adventure Canoe Trip
Upper James River
The first of its kind for Troop 20, we're planning on a weeklong canoe trip on the Upper James River. Coming in at just over 65 miles, this trip will qualify you for the 50-miler award and be a defining event in your scouting experience.

August 20-22, Campout: Dog Days of Summer
Summer is almost over, school is about to begin, and wow, will it be hot. We'll camp at Fort Boykin outside of Smithfield, on the shore of the James River, do some leader training, work on our new skills from summer camp, and comb the beach for treasures.
September 13, Autumn Court of Honor
Come celebrate the troop's accomplishments over the past six months as we pass out awards, clap a lot, cheer a bit, and perhaps even eat cake. Location dependent on weather and the church's construction status.
September 20-22, Campout: Stargazing and Rockets
When you travel back in time to an 18th century plantation, the night sky is there in all its glory. This campout will be a great one to hone your skills on, explore our history, launch a rocket during the day, and stargaze into the night.
October 15-17, Campout: Backpacking on the Beach
False Cape State Park
It's an easy five-mile hike into False Cape State Park through barrier dunes and scrub forests. This park is inaccessible by vehicle, so walking is the way to go. We'll camp in a sheltered forest, behind the dunes, with an option to sleep out on the beach. Bring some pocket change as there is a camp store with some souvenirs.
October 22-24 and November 19-21,
National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
Pipsico Scout Reservation
This is BSA's premiere leadership experience for youth leaders. For scouts only, this is a chance to become an expert in the methods of scouting and hone your interpersonal skills. Spaces are limited and once it's full, you have to wait till next spring.
